八ヶ岳ロケでは鹿によく会います。小鹿は好奇心に勝てず近づいてくることがありますが、母鹿が鋭い警戒声で呼び戻します。「ギュエ！！」という感じです。他にもリス、タヌキ、各種の野鳥などがいますが、ボクはネイチャーカメラマンではないので興味がありません。それでもアサギマダラとかニホンカモシカなどが出て来たときは望遠を装着して追いかけることもあります。
We often encounter deer while filming in the Yatsugatake area. Sometimes, fawns can't resist their curiosity and wander closer, only to be called back by their mothers with a sharp, alert cry—something like a harsh "Gyue!" There are other animals around, too—squirrels, raccoon dogs, and various wild birds—but since I’m not a nature photographer, they don't really interest me. That said, if something like a Chestnut Tiger butterfly or a Japanese serow appears, I sometimes just attach my telephoto lens and go after them.
